The name derives from the shape that the cloud takes which resembles a helmet in which the Norse god would wear. This gas cloud is measure to be 30 light-years wide. Located in the center of this interstellar bubble is a hot giant star which some have speculated to be in a pre-supernova stage. The closest constellation to this interstellar bubble is Canis Major about 15,000 light-years in distance.
